A Study on Actual Conditions of School Feeding Service in Korea

Abstract
This paper is that analyzed the fundamental data concerning the actual conditions of school feeding service and the disposition of school nurses of primary schools which are located in eleven administrative area(cities and provinces) in Korea 1974. The results obtained were summarized as follows: The arrangement ratio of school nurse was 12.2%, the possible school for disposition of nurse in accordance was 14.6% and school which have less than 18 classes was 72.9%. Due to the lacke of school public health service men, school nurses in the first line of school heath service do not actually participate in the planning for feeding service or management, and the effective acomplishment of meal service affairs has not been done due to the unsettlement of the law for school feeding service. School feeding service has been originated from foreign assistance, and has now been under the step of nourishment feeding service through the step of supplemental feeding service. We have three kinds of feeding service to be performed since the foreign assistance stopped. They are free feeding service (61.4%) by government assistance, paid feeding service (35%) by self charge, and model feeding service (3.6%). But it tends to be the step turning from free feeding service toward self charge feeding service.
